WHAT IS A ‘FITNESS TO DRIVE’ ASSESSMENT?
WHATS INVOLVED
An on-road driving assessment is based on realistic driving situations. A trained and fully qualified Assessor/Instructor will perform the assessment in the Clients car, in the local area where the person is most likely to drive. This is to ensure a relaxed atmosphere. Upon completion of the assessment, a report will be formulated and recommendations discussed.
The On Road Medical Driving Assessments
(including Group 1 & Group 2 licence holders)
are carried out in the following regions at present and other regions will be added later.

A Driving Assessment may be recommended by a Health Care Professional for anyone with

A driving assessment can be required for a person with a wide range of medical conditions such as Neurological Disorders, Congenital Disorders etcMedical Condition
The on-road assessment will follow the guidelines of the Road Safety Authority’s (RSA) 2015 Traffic Medicine Competency Framework.Age Related Condition
The safety of the driver, passengers, and other road users is a priority in assessing the abilities and competencies of the driver.Drivers may need a Medical Certificate for:
Begining to Drive
On the Road assessment is assessment of a realistic driving situation
Returning to Driving

Continuing to Drive
